Preparations towards the Forestry Sector’s participation at the UNFCCC COP26 in Glasgow

As part of preparations towards the Forestry Sector’s participation at the UNFCCC COP26 in Glasgow from 31st October to 12th November 2021, the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Mr. John M. Allotey and the British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E Harriet Thompson had a strategic meeting on Wednesday 29th September, 2021 at the British High Commission in Accra

The meeting amongst other things discussed Ghana’s current Climate Actions in addressing Deforestation, Forest Degradation and enhancing Livelihood opportunities for rural and forest fringed communities and the potential areas of support needed to strengthen and scale up these actions

Mr. Allotey expressed his appreciation to the UK Government as COP26 President for providing support to Ghana to host a Country Pavilion and Delegation Office at COP26 which will be the first time ever for the Country. H.E Harriet Thompson also expressed appreciation to Ghana for her efforts at addressing Deforestation and Forest Degradation and indicated continued engagement for future areas of collaboration.
