The Board of Commissioners, Management and staff of Forestry Commission were hit with the demise of one of the members of the Commission’s Board. Togbega Gabusu VI passed on to eternal glory after a short illness in Hohoe.

He was the Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area and President of the Gbi Traditional Council as well as the Chief of Hohoe. The Commission was duly informed and as custom demands, members of the Board, led by the indefatigable Chairman, Brigadier – Gen. A week of mourning has been declared in the Gbi Traditional Area to mourn the departed king.

The Board of Commissioners presented eleven (11) packs of water, a carton of schnapps and One Thousand Cedis (GHC1,000) to the Gbi Traditional Council as their widow’s mite towards the preparations for  Togbega Gabusu’s funeral.

Speaking on behalf of the Acting President of the Gbi Traditional Council, Togbega Worde, Togbe Adzofusu welcomed the delegation and expressed the Gbi Tradional Council’s appreciation to the entire Commission for their visit and the presentation of items. He furthered by saying that the Commission will be duly informed when the date for the grand final funeral rights for the late King is fixed.

All members of the delegation signed the Book of Condolence which has been opened in honour of their deceased colleague.

The delegation then proceeded to the house of the widow of the late Commissioner, Mrs. Joyce Gabusu, to offer their condolences to her. Speaking through a spokesperson, she also expressed her sincere gratitude to all the members of the Board for their support during the last days of their departed colleague and also thanked them for their visit.
